How to save your diagram as a custom template
By default, your Cacoo diagram will be saved as a “Diagram” type. To create a custom template and save it for later use, you will need to set the diagram type to “Template”.
- Start a new diagram and create your diagram template.
- To save your diagram as a custom template, go to the top navigation area, select the drop-down arrow beside the diagram name > Set diagram type > Template.
- The Publish Shape button will display on the top navigation area; select it.
- After you have published the template, the custom template will be reflected on the template library under the Custom Templates section.

Apply changes to the custom template
If you have made some changes or updates to an existing custom template, after the updates, please select the Publish Template button on the top navigation area to apply the changes.
The Cacoo auto-save function will only save the changes in the custom template diagram but will not publish the changes in the Custom Template library, hence the need to select the Publish Template button.
Remove custom templates from the template library
You can remove the custom templates from the template library in the following ways.
- Archive the diagram
You can archive the custom template’s diagram and the custom template will be removed from the template library. - Change the diagram type
You can change the custom template diagram from “Template” to “Diagram” type. This will remove the custom template from the template library.
To change the diagram type, select the drop-down arrow beside the diagram name > Set diagram type > Diagram. The changes will be saved automatically.
